What if it rains on my wedding day? Good question! Yes everyone wants the perfect weather on their special day, but don’t get obsessed with it, at end of the day we live in Cornwall and as most people who live here will tell you it rains, quite a lot! So what now? go abroad and spend loads more money on a wedding in a hotter country? well yeah, that is one option! But I say embrace it! It’s your wedding day and no matter what the weather is doing, no one can take that away from you.
Chances are you probably will feel a little disappointed in the morning when you open your curtains and see it’s raining but I can guarantee you when it’s time to start getting ready with make-up, hair and getting the dress on it will be one of the last things on your mind, your heart will be racing with excitement to see your future partner and it will seem such an insignificant thing.
When it comes to the group photos, most venues will have a space for these to happen, a lot of the time most couples say to me let’s just get the important photos with parents etc. Everyone who is at your wedding will have some photos taken of them in a candid natural way which I’m guessing as your thinking about or have booked me that’s the style you wanted for your wedding photos to be anyway.
I also think brides in a wedding dress wearing wellies and holding an umbrella looks amazing! It helps if you have a wedding umbrella prepared that matches your style for the day but just a plain white one also works.
When I won the Weddison 2017 award it was actually with a photo taken on a rainy wedding day, the bride and groom were up for getting a bit wet so we went out onto the golf course, I backlit them with a speedlight and the rain droplets lit up like stars.
Hope this settles your mind a little bit, if the forecast for your wedding day isn’t looking the best, get your wellies out and go splash in some puddles!
